About us

Wendelin Christ, born in 1968 in Nördlingen (Bavaria), is married, and lives in Leinfelden-Echterdingen near Stuttgart. After training as an IT-systems merchant, he then for several years was responsible for sales and marketing in various software companies before founding his own company ventasoft GmbH in 1999. Within six years he developed the company to Germany’s market leader for electronic (construction) tendering. In August 2005, he sold ventasoft GmbH to a Stuttgart-based investment company and at the request of the new owner stayed as director until the end of 2007. In December 2007, ventasoft GmbH was sold to RIB Software AG, also based in Stuttgart, and integrated as its own division. Wendelin Christ resigned from his position as director and by order of RIB Software AG worked for several months as an external consultant overseeing the integration process in staff, client projects and business partners.

After a hiatus, used for language trips to England, Ireland and New Zealand, in February 2009 Christ founded the company WENDELIN CHRIST SALES & CONSULTING based in Leinfelden-Echterdingen working with independent consultants and experts.

In 1999 Wendelin Christ founded ventasoft GmbH in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg. The business idea was a completely novel and practical-oriented tender platform on the internet, linking the public authorities with the building and construction industry. Business started with two salaried employees, three interns and 50.000 German Marks – (all this without any foundation loan or bank credit).

The goal was to establish a prosperous business with innovative products. The corner stones of the corporate culture were built on commitment, loyalty and honesty (as well as a culture of constructive criticism).

Wendelin Christ was responsible for the strategic alignment of the company and for sales, marketing, finance and human resources – (which procures broad knowledge and constitutes a permanent challenge). His then business partner supervised the area technical development and was responsible for the operation of the tender portal.

After two years of developing our products, at the end of 2002, ventasoft GmbH won an European-wide invitation of tenders by the federal state of Bavaria for an internet-based placing platform. With a fully implemented product the company had grown to 16 salaried employees by September 2003.

The success continued: Conversations with potential investors were started in order to finance further expansion of the company. Thus, the ventasoft GmbH management obtained further valuable knowledge, because strategic, institutional and private investors really have their own questions, wishes and conversation modalities. However, after a nine month negotiation period, it became clear: This was not the right path. Focus was therefore still on organic growth of the day-to-day business and a self-propelling expansion.

This strategy paid off: By 2004 further business to set up a tender platform was obtained through the city state of Berlin, German Telekom AG, BMW Group, the city of Wuppertal and various other high-profile principals. ventasoft GmbH was able to double its profit almost every year. This is a novelty for any start-up-company, but especially in this highly technological oriented, development intense and very discerning market segment! Ultimately, in 2005 the company became the market leader (- technologically and with regards to content). Besides certifications through SAP, an especially developed anti-counterfeit signature software was officially certified with the rating ‘high protection’ and by the number of users and of transactions ventasoft GmbH was in the fore of this segment – with 35 salaried employees a highly profitable company!

In order to further the market penetration and to develop a new software generation the management around Wendelin Christ decided in midyear 2005 to anew start negotiations with potential investors. In the process the first investor negotiations in 2003 inured to the benefit of the management team: When a premium offer for a complete company takeover arose, it only took eight weeks until the sales contract was signed.
By request of the new company owner, Wendelin Christ and his business partner stayed within their previous functions until the end of 2007 and left the company when ventasoft GmbH was integrated as own division into Stuttgart-based company RIB Software AG.
